Finding the right person is everything. Annotell is a fast-growing start-up with a mission to provide the world’s best platform for human-machine collaboration. To get there we team up with people who are ambitious and who do not mind getting their hands dirty.

Since we still live and breath start-up, we want our team members to have a broad set of skills and a willingness to constantly extend her/his knowledge and explore uncharted territory. We won’t provide you with a well-defined job description - we need you to take part in defining your role and responsibilities.

  • VP People Operations. Make sure we have the strongest possible global team.

  • VP Sales. Help our clients get value from Annotells product and services.

  • Senior Frontend Engineer. Help us build great tools to agree at scale.

  • Senior Backend Engineer. We have more training data than most.

Seems like the perfect fit but you don’t know all that much about machine learning and annotation? Don’t worry, we’ll get you up to speed! VP People Operations

We want to take our efforts in building a global annotation team to the next level by hiring a VP People Operations.

Annotell provides a highly scalable capacity to produce high quality training data. Our ability to do so is not just thanks to our intelligent tools, but also carefully designed processes and great people management.

At the core is our reliable Quality Assurance Team that we have built a strong relationship with. We know that high quality results require a high degree of trust, dedication and great working conditions. We have spent significant time and resources developing the team that is now at the center of our annotation process. In addition to our core team we have Annotation Partner Teams to extend our capacity in a flexible way. It’s critical to us that everyone working for Annotell has great working conditions, and we carefully select our partners based on their ability to ensure this.

Your main goal will be to ensure that we grow and manage our global team in an engaged, responsible and caring way. This includes both day-to-day activities as well as long term strategic initiatives. A large part of your job will be sourcing and managing a global team of annotation specialists. To do that you need to constantly formulate and challenge the problems you’re trying to solve, ask smart questions and champion new ideas. Experience from global sourcing projects is a plus.

VP Sales

Our goal is to create value for our clients by helping them solve problems. We are happy to have gained the trust of several major industrial companies already in our first year. Now we need a driven leader to help us build a professional sales organisation. As we are still a small company every part of the sales process will be your responsibility to oversee, from lead generation to deal closing. Over time our goal is to build a strong team with the structure necessary to meet ambitious goals in a fast growing market.

Your goal will be to create a culture focused on delivering value to our clients, develop and execute on plans to achieve our sales goals and help us build trust with an increasing number of partners. As we grow this will include hiring and developing a team, become known as an employer of choice and help drive the evolution of our offering. We are a data driven company so we need you to help define and track sales goals and metrics.

We expect you to be able to travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners primarily but not exclusively in Europe. We also expect you to learn our market inside out and provide feedback to the leadership team.

Frontend Engineer

We have set the foundation for a modern web application but need an experienced frontend engineer to help us take it to the next level. Annotell is a fast-growing start-up with a mission to provide the world’s best platform for human-machine collaboration. Human-machine collaboration depends on great user interfaces. You will be joining a team of talented developers that share a common interest in the challenges with human-machine interaction.

We use modern tools and our web app is built in a modular way using TypeScript, React and Redux. Our backend is built in Scala with sprinkles of Python, and the complete solution is delivered using Kubernetes on Google Cloud. We offer a chance to work with the latest technology, while being focused on creating simple and reliable solutions.

We expect you to be able to be able to go all the way from high level architecture design down to efficient code. A strong understanding of React is a bonus, but solid experience from building web applications is more important. We expect you to be able to learn new tools and frameworks when necessary, without falling for the latest framework hype ;-)

Backend Engineer

We need an experienced backend engineer to help us handle the massive volumes of data we are processing. Annotell prides itself on an ability to produce large quantities of high quality training data. For this to be possible we need a highly scalable and robust backend, and we are looking for someone who can drive our work with data engineering and scalability.

We use modern tools and our backend is written in Scala with sprinkles of Python, and the complete solution is delivered using Kubernetes on Google Cloud. We offer a chance to work with the latest technology, while being focused on creating simple and reliable solutions. On our todo list right now is expanding our use of queue based message passing, make better use of Akka Actors and Akka Streams, ensure our ability to use spot-instances in production and reduce latency on provisioning large amounts of data globally. But expect the list to grow and evolve fast.

We expect you to be able to be able to go all the way from high level architecture design down to efficient code. A strong understanding of Scala is a bonus, but solid experience from building scalable, distributed systems is more important.
